Aarti Saha was born in Kolkata, West Bengal, on September 24, 1940. He was born into a family in the middle class. Panchugopal Saha was the name of his father. He used to work for the military as an employee. His mother died when he was only two and a half years old.
She was the more senior of the two girls her parents had. He had a younger brother and sister. Bharti was the name of his younger sister. After the historic win in 1959, she married her boss, Dr. Arun Gupta. In 1960, she got the Padma Shri, one of India’s highest civilian awards.
Also, the Department of Posts stamped her memory in 1999. Aarti Saha died of jaundice in Kolkata, India, on August 23, 1994, when she was 53 years old.

Arati Saha Gupta Career
Aarti Saha used to take a bath with his father at the Champal Ghat in the childhood. From there she became interested in swimming. Seeing Arati’s interested in swimming her father got her enrolled Hathkhola swimming club. He was brave enough to swim across the English Channel because of the Indian sailor Mihir Sen.
Between 1945 and 1951, he won 22 events at the state level in West Bengal. Her most essential races were the 100-meter freestyle, 100-meter breaststroke, and 200-meter breaststroke. At the West Bengal state meet in 1951, she did the 100-meter breaststroke in 1 minute 37.6 seconds, which beat Dolly Nazir’s all-India record.
In 1948, he went to Mumbai to participate in the National Championship. She got silver in the 100-meter freestyle and 200-meter breaststroke and bronze in the 200-meter freestyle. At the 1952 Summer Olympics, he and his fellow Indian Dolly Nazir competed for India. She was one of the four women who competed and the youngest person from India.

Arati Saha was the first female player of India to be awarded the Padma Shri in 1960. In 1960, she received the Padma Shri. She was the first Indian woman to win this award as a sport. In 1999, the Department of Posts made a stamp of her that cost three pounds.
In 1996, a statue of Arati Saha was put up near her home. In her honour, the 100-meter-long street in front of the figure has been changed. In 2020, on what would have been her 80th birthday, Google made a Doodle to celebrate her.
